A Baltimore County teen apparently drowned yesterday after jumping off a bridge over Liberty Reservoir in Carroll County, state police said. The 16-year-old, whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, was with four Baltimore and Carroll County males when he jumped from the Deer Park Road bridge shortly after 5 p.m. and surfaced, said Detective Russ Fritz of the Carroll County sheriff's office. Fritz said the boy tried to swim to shore, tired and went under. Tfc. Andrew A. Eways of the Westminster barracks said the distance from the bridge to the water was more than 40 feet and the water was believed to be several feet deep.

Eways said one of the males pulled the victim to shore. The victim was pronounced dead at Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster about 6 p.m.
