Officer in hospital after hit by vehicle while chasing suspect

A city police officer remained in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Unit yesterday, a day after he was struck by a car while pursuing a suspected drug dealer in West Baltimore.

Officer Allen Adkins, 35, a 15-year veteran, suffered a fractured pelvis and dislocated shoulder when he was hit while sprinting across Liberty Heights and Gwynn Oaks Drive at 3:08 p.m. Friday. The motorist was not charged.
