To Everyman's health

MARYLAND SCENE

June 18, 2000|By Sloane Brown

The crowd at Everyman Theatre was SRO -- standing room only -- for "Salut! Everyman," a wine tasting and auction to benefit the theater.

About 260 guests critiqued the performances of more than 30 foreign and domestic wines in roles ranging from sauvignon blanc to zinfandel, as they raved about the shows they'd seen this season at Everyman.

Savoring the spirit of the evening: Gordon Becker, Everyman board chair and event co-chair; Jeannie L. Howe, Everyman board president and event co-chair; Jim Gabler, event honorary chair; Susan Fleishman, Donald Hicken, Michael Hodes, Marlene Brager and Steve Yeager, event committee members; Kathy Abbott, Gina Hirschhorn and Rex Rehfeld, Everyman board members; Phillip Quick, owner of Viccino Bistro; Howard Rosenbloom, executive director of the Ben & Esther Rosenbloom Foundation; Lucien Walsh, Rotunda Wine & Spirits assistant manager; John Cynkar, owner of Cynkar/Santini Inc.; Joe Johnson, senior trial attorney with the law offices of Peter Angelos; Tagi Sagafi-nejad, Loyola College professor of international business; Denise Koch, WJZ-TV news anchor; Rosemary Pardee, Everyman resident costume designer; Deborah Hazlett, Everyman company member; and Betty Rothman, retired reading specialist.

More than glasses were raised at the event, which raised almost $70,000 for Everyman Theatre.
