Median price is $1.9 million for home in Fla. town

Jupiter Island, Fla., tops the list of the 250 richest towns in America ranked by 1998 and 1999 median home prices in this month's issue of Worth magazine. The median home price on island is reported at $1.9 million, up from $922,500 during 1996 and 1997.

Aspen, Colo., comes in second on the list with a median home price of $1.75 million. Atherton, Belvedere, Rolling Hills, Hillsborough and Los Altos Hills, Calif., followed with median home prices of $1.698 million, $1.463 million, $1.425 million, $1.38 million and $1.331 million, respectively.

Mountain Village, Colo., and Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., are eighth and ninth with a median home price of $1.325 million. Snowmass Village, Colo., rounded out the top 10 at $1.3 million.

Only one Maryland town makes the list. Potomac finished 137th with a median home price of $531,775. California has the most towns on the list with 76, followed by New York with 46, New Jersey with 26, Massachusetts with 18 and Illinois with 17.

Median home price of all towns on the list is $555,841.
