3 charged in home invasion

Baltimore County police have charged three men in a May 18 home invasion robbery in the Phoenix area.

Police charged Christopher Anthony Denicolis, 20, of the 12400 block of Wolbert Way Friday with armed robbery, burglary, first-degree assault, animal cruelty and two counts of second-degree assault. Ronald Joseph Horvitz Jr., 19, of the first block of Begonia Court and Richard Peter Jaffray III, 19, of the 8000 block of Harford Road were charged yesterday with armed robbery and first-degree assault.

Authorities said the men entered the home of Mark and Renee Greene in the 14000 block of Old York Road about 4 a.m. and killed the family's dog, a Shih Tzu, with a baseball bat. They approached Mark Greene, 42, sleeping on the couch, and wielded a kitchen knife at him, said Cpl. Vickie Warehime, a police spokeswoman. They awakened Renee Greene, 33, who was sleeping upstairs, and forced her downstairs. She escaped and ran to a neighbor's house to call police.

All three were being held yesterday at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
