June 13, 2000

Carroll County officials are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who broke into and spray-painted a water storage tank at Liberty High School in Eldersburg last week.

Wayne Lewns, chief of the Carroll County utilities bureau, said vandals did $3,000 to $4,000 in damage June 6, cutting a hole in a wire fence surrounding the tower, breaking in a metal door and spraying "Class of 2000" and other graffiti on the tower.

Citizens are urged not to enter the tower area or try to apprehend suspects. Anyone with information may call Lewns at 410-386-2164.

Names and information will remain confidential.
