New chairman chosen for National Institutes of Health center

Columbia resident Dr. Stephen C. Schimpff, kke: photo slugged schimpff sent downtown at 4 p.m. 6-08-00:] CEO of the University of Maryland Medical Center and executive vice president of the University of Maryland Medical System, has been named chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center.

Travers named district director of Red Cross

Deborah Travershas been named district director for the Red Cross in Howard County.

She will oversee the delivery of Red Cross services, including disaster relief, health and safety services, and the Crime Avoidance Program, in the county. Travers has worked for the American Red Cross for the past four years.
