Howard County police arrested 12 people Friday night and yesterday morning during a DWI checkpoint on westbound Route 40 at Governor's Landing in Ellicott City.
County police, assisted by Maryland State Police and the Howard County chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, stopped more than 840 vehicles during the checkpoint, which was conducted from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Police said all the people arrested were charged with driving while intoxicated.
