Quote: "To be honest, I got lucky. I can't explain it or anything. It was just a lucky catch." - The Mariners' Stan Javier on his amazing, homer-saving catch against the Padres Sunday. In the seventh, Javier leaped and reached over the fence for a ball hit by Phil Nevin. The ball hit Javier's glove, but he couldn't hold it, though inadvertently flipping the ball back toward the field. As he fell to the ground, Javier looked up, saw the ball dropping, reached out his glove and caught it.
It's a fact: It took the Giants just 25 home dates at Pacific Bell Park to reach 1 million in attendance, a total they weren't able to achieve in 11 of their seasons at Candlestick Park.
