Around Town

Marriage is a breeze for Lite 102's sweetheart Mary Anne Perry, compared with the wedding itself. For the afternoon-drive radio personality, the trip to the altar became an obstacle course.

Mary Anne and fiance Greg Zenger had been renovating their Roland Park home to play host for their nuptials last Oct. 9. But two uninvited guests smashed those plans, literally.

"In August, Hurricane Dennis broke a 200-year-old backyard tree in half, which came down on our back porch and demolished it," Mary Anne says. "Then two to three weeks later, Hurricane Floyd got us again."

This time, a white oak in their front yard was uprooted by the storm, blocking Roland Avenue for a time.

Three weeks before the big day, the restaurant where the couple planned their rehearsal dinner closed.

Then the minister had a family emergency and couldn't make it.

And Greg injured his finger.

At that point, "we regrouped," says Mary Anne.

The two recited their vows before friends and neighbors April 29 in a celebration Mary Anne describes as "absolutely perfect, absolutely beautiful."

We'll get to see for ourselves when the Learning Channel features Mary Anne and Greg in an episode of its cable show "A Wedding Story," which runs from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Mary Anne says she doesn't know the air date yet, but it should be sometime in September. Stay tuned.
