Baltimore County police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old Essex resident in connection with the shooting death Wednesday of a man in the Villages of Tall Trees and said they are looking for the alleged shooter.

Robert J. Pittman of the 1600 block of Old Eastern Ave. has been charged with first-degree murder and a handgun violation in the death of Allen Stronge Sampson, 34, of Baltimore, who was shot once in the torso in the 1600 block of Rickenbacker Road early Wednesday morning.

Pittman is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police also charged Curtis Love, 20, of the 1000 block of Bayner Road with first-degree murder and a handgun violation and said they are searching for him.

Police said Sampson was shot during a robbery.

According to charging documents, witnesses told officials that a man approached Sampson at an apartment complex parking lot, brandished a gun and told the victim to "give me your money." The witnesses told officials a second man -- carrying a revolver -- grabbed Sampson and demanded his money before shooting him, police said.

When Pittman was questioned, he told police he was involved in the homicide and identified Love as the shooter, police said.

Sampson's death was the 12th homicide in the county this year.
