College offers field day for dairy producers, youths

The University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources will hold a morning field day for dairy producers and dairy farm youths from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 10 at its Central Maryland Research and Education Center in Clarksville.

Families are invited to attend an open house, "A Healthy Environment, A Healthy Me," from noon to 3 p.m.

Lunch will be available at noon from local vendors. Youth groups will sell refreshments throughout the day.

Morning walking tours will demonstrate how extension education programs benefit Maryland's dairy farmers. The afternoon open house will include hay-wagon tours of the dairy barns, a manure-composting site and nearby wetlands. Homeowners are invited to bring sick plants to the plant clinic.

Lisbon Community Library to hold story time

Lisbon Community Library, 710 Lisbon Center Drive, Woodbine, will hold story time for families and small groups from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. June 9.

Open house: Day's End Farm Horse Rescue, 15856 Frederick Road, Lisbon, will hold its open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24.
