Two people were listed in critical condition yesterday after a Memorial Day automobile collision in Crofton that killed a 55-year-old man.

Killed in the accident was Clarence Andrew Chisley of the 1200 block of Collins Ave. in Odenton, a back-seat passenger in a 1995 Ford Escort that was struck broadside about 5 p.m. Monday at Route 3 South and Conway Road by a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria.

Witnesses told investigators that the Crown Victoria, which was southbound on Route 3, did not stop for a red light and ran into the Escort, which was crossing the southbound lanes from Conway, Anne Arundel County police said.

The driver of the southbound car, Amy Jo Bossard of Upper Marlboro, and her passenger, Gisele Marie Keirnan of Bowie, both 17, were treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the Escort, Violet Josephine Contee, 58, was listed in critical condition yesterday at Prince George's Hospital Center, while passenger Nila Delmeta Brown, 41, was in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Both are neighbors of Chisley on Collins Avenue, according to police.

Another passenger, Raymond Johnson, 60, of the 13200 block of Ninth St. in Bowie, was released from Shock Trauma yesterday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

In another accident about 6:15 p.m. Monday, 22-year-old motorcyclist Jason William Mullinix of Laurel was killed when he apparently failed to stop at a red light at Route 108 and Harpers Farm Road in Columbia and ran into the side of a car, according to Howard County police.
