Laurel man dies after motorcycle hits car in Columbia

A Laurel man died during the weekend after the motorcycle he was driving ran a red light and struck a car in Columbia, Howard County police said.

About 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Jason W. Mullinix, 22, was driving east on Route 108 when his motorcycle ran through the red light at Harpers Farm Road and struck a Nissan Maxima waiting to turn left, police said.

Mullinix was taken to Howard County General Hospital where he died, police said.

The driver of the Nissan, Richard A. Hammer, 54, was not injured, police said.
