The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Winter Rose Path: 7100 block, Owen Brown. A 24-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint of a leather backpack filled with compact discs and clothes about 9 p.m. Saturday. The victim was walking to his car when the robber approached, displayed a handgun and took the bag. The robber then fled toward the Owen Brown Village Center.

Gerwig Lane: 9500 block, Kings Contrivance. Burglars entered Opal Technologies sometime Friday and stole merchandise.

Stevens Forrest Road: 5700 block, Oakland Mills. Burglars entered a home by breaking a window and stole a rifle, a Sony Playstation and stereo Sunday.

West Columbia

Little Patuxent Parkway: The Mall, Town Center. About 10 a.m. Saturday, burglars jumped across the counter of Simply Wireless, broke open the display cabinets and stole cash and fled.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Route 103: at Long Gate Parkway, Ellicott City. About 12:45 a.m. Saturday, a man tried to rob a McDonald's restaurant at the drive-thru window. He handed the cashier a bag and said: "Fill up the bag," implying he had a gun. The clerk moved away from the window and the would-be robber ran away.

Hanover Road: 6300 block, Elkridge. Burglars entered Excaliber Cable and took cash sometime Sunday or Monday.
