Mingling was high on the agenda at the American Lung Association of Maryland's Breath of Life Celebration 2000. While the 430 guests may have been formally attired, the atmosphere at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel was casually comfortable. Partygoers breezed from table to table, catching up with old friends and making new ones, and congratulating the evening's Breath of Life Award winner, Dr. Alfred Munzer. The Washington Adventist Hospital pulmonary physician was lauded for his efforts in furthering the Lung Association's mission of preventing lung disease and promoting lung health.

The evening's turnout included: Ken Barnes and Dr. Dan Stern, event co-chairs; Marcia Freedman, Diane Macklin, Heather Shaffer and Jan Williams, event committee members; Roger B. Hayden, American Lung Association of Maryland board president-elect; Stephen Burch, John von Paris and Christopher Kurtzman, board members; Steve Peregoy, American Lung Association of Maryland executive director; Floyd Hartfield, president of Howard County Health Services; Tammy Kugler, Mrs. Maryland 2000; Elrod Hendricks, Orioles bullpen coach; Steve Rouse, WQSR-FM morning show host; Denise Koch, WJZ-TV news anchor; Tracye Funn, manager with Washington Gas; Daryle Satchell, Hyatt Hotel banquet manager; Ken Karnes, president of Karnes Inc.; and Bill Kinnier, medical associate with SmithKline Beecham.
