Red Cross calling for blood donations to avert shortage

May 25, 2000

The American Red Cross is asking for donations of blood to avoid a severe shortage in the Baltimore-Washington area.

Type O and type B blood, positive and negative, are in short supply.

Sluggish donations have forced the Red Cross to ration blood to area hospitals on a patient-by-patient basis.

Appointments to donate: 800- GIVE-LIFE.
