The senior Rob Bateman Hereford, lacrosse The senior defender is one of the main reasons the No. 12 Bulls (14-3) advanced to the 3A-2A-1A state final against Glenelg. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound player was a standout in four games last week. Bateman, who has four goals and 22 assists while drawing the opponents' top scorers, notched the game-winner in overtime to nip Towson, 8-7. He had three assists in a 14-9 win over Pikesville, another game-winning goal in an 8-6 win over Franklin, and 10 ground balls in the 8-7 semifinal over No. 13 Mount Hebron.

McDonogh, track and field

The junior sprinter led the Eagles to the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland title with a record-setting day at Calvert Hall on Saturday. She set meet records in the 100 (12.0) and 400 meters (56.8), and ran the anchor leg for the 1,600 relay team that also set a meet standard (4:16.6). McDonogh captured the team title over Bryn Mawr, 116-92. It was the second straight outstanding weekend for Lattimer, who won the 100, 200 and 400 with meet records at the Maryland Private Schools Meet on May13.
