Census Bureau coming to test, hire workers to count Carroll residents

The Census Bureau is giving tests for potential census takers, crew leaders and office clerks for the 2000 Census on weekdays and some Saturdays around the county.

The bureau needs people to help make sure everyone is counted in the 2000 Census in Carroll County.

Census employees work in their community, set their hours and can be reimbursed for authorized expenses.

All positions are paid competitive wages.

Although an appointment to take the test is suggested, walk-ins are welcome.

Bring two forms of identification.

Tests will be given:

At 2 p.m. Mondays this month at Maryland Job Service, 125 Airport Drive, Westminster.

The test will not be given May 29.

At 6 p.m. today and at 10 a.m. Wednesdays this month in the community room at Carrolltown Center, Liberty Road, Eldersburg.

At 3 p.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Airy branch library, 705 Ridge Ave.

At 9 a.m. May 30 at the Department of Social Services, 10 Distillery Drive, Westminster.

At 5 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. Thursdays this month at the Business and Employment Resource Center, 224 N. Center St., Westminster.

At 10 a.m. May 30 at Union Bridge Town Hall, 104 W. Locust St.

At 6 p.m. Wednesdays this month at South Carroll Senior Center, 5745 Bartholow Road, Eldersburg.

At 1 p.m. Fridays this month at Eldersburg branch library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive.

At 10 a.m. Fridays this month at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church, 2101 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg.

At 6 p.m. Thursdays this month at the North Carroll branch library, 2255 Hanover Pike.

At 3 p.m. Wednesdays this month and at 2 p.m. Tuesdays at Taneytown branch library, 10 Grand Drive.
