Perfecting the face

Think of Chanel's Visage Parfait Correction Perfection Face Kit as a paint-by-number kit -- for your face. The "creative correcting compact" contains four triangles -- one each of concealer, corrector, brightener and luminizer, plus a "line perfecter" pencil and a nylon applicator brush.

Confused by the wealth of products? Don't be.

The kit is designed to meet the needs of individual complexions and skin tones. Mix the corrector with concealer to hide skin imperfections. Give your face glow with the brightener. Add drama with the peachy luminizer. And use the pencil to fill in wrinkles and laugh lines.

All products are made from crease-resistant formulas, and because they contain green tea, cucumber extract and chamomile, they help soothe and moisturize skin.

The Chanel Visage Parfait Correction Perfection Face Kit costs $55 and is available where Chanel cosmetics are sold.

Hollywood's smile secret

Brush your teeth. Don't eat between meals. Floss. Floss again.

Sometimes having clean healthy teeth isn't enough. They've got to be super-white.

And for Calvin Klein, Johnny Depp, Donatella Versace and other celebs, the way to whiteness is Supersmile Whitening Toothpaste.

The toothpaste uses a patented mix of whitening agents, baking soda for fresh breath and healthy gums, and fluoride to help fight cavities. These ingredients work to dissolve the clear, sticky film on the teeth to which such stain-makers as coffee, tobacco and plaque attach.

White isn't cheap, however. A tube of Supersmile costs about $15 -- about five times as much as Crest. To order, call 800-784-7645 or check out www.supersmileusa.com.

Tommy Bahama season

It's spring. The sun is out, the birds are singing and people are walking around dressed in tropical print sarongs, shirts and neckties and looking like refugees from a Jimmy Buffet concert.

Ah yes, it's Tommy Bahama season again.

The popular clothing line is known for its fun prints and casual elegance. The spring/summer line is no different but features some new looks, such as: For women, there are classic dress shapes, such as a wrap dress in a vintage-looking Casablanca print ($135). Also, look for cropped and Capri pants, sarongs and such details as hand-embroidered pineapples on women's camp shirts and dresses.

For men, look for classic checks and plaids done Tommy-Bahama-style in muted colors and finishes, giving fabrics a vintage look. Don't miss their silk necktie ($55), paired with silk canvas shirt ($115) and silk herringbone trousers ($105).

Tommy Bahama clothing is available at stores including Nordstrom and South Moon Under in the Shops at Kenilworth in Towson.

Keeping the sun's kisses off your tresses

By now, everyone knows they need to put sunscreen on their skin to prevent it from being damaged and burned by UVA and UVB rays.

Now Shiseido wants to make sure your hair doesn't get sunburned, either. The company's Refreshing Protective Spray SPF 12 can be used on face, body and hair to safeguard against UV exposure. It costs $22 and comes in a convenient spray bottle.

The spray is available at Nordstrom, Macy's and other department stores.
