NCAA men's quarterfinals

No.1 Syracuse (12-1) vs. Georgetown (12-2)

Site: Rutgers Stadium, Piscataway, N.J.

Time: 1 p.m.

Skinny: Syracuse is loaded in every phase of the game, from high-scoring senior attackman Ryan Powell (35 goals, 43 assists for nation-leading average of 6 points a game) to exceptional goalkeeper Rob Mulligan, who enters the NCAA tournament ranked fourth in the nation in save percentage(.635) and fifth in goals-against average (7.76). It has only been two weeks since Syracuse closed out its regular season with a 24-16 pounding of Georgetown at the Carrier Dome. Powell scored five goals and had one assist in that rout of the Hoyas. Senior attackman Andy Flick leads the Hoyas with 69 points (38 goals, 31 assists).

No.3 Princeton (10-2) vs. No.6 Maryland (11-4)

Site: Rutgers Stadium, Piscataway, N.J.

Time: 4 p.m.

TV: HTS (tape delay tomorrow at midnight)

Radio: WMUC (88.1 FM)

Skinny: Maryland coach Dick Edell said he "can't conceive" what it would be like to own five NCAA championship rings like Princeton coach Bill Tierney. Edell is still looking for his first NCAA title ring in 17 seasons at Maryland, even though he has guided the Terps to three championship games and 12 Princeton lost its leading scorer, sophomore attackman B.J. Prager, to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in a 9-5 win over Cornell on April 22. With Prager gone, senior midfielder Josh Sims (Severn) has taken over the team scoring lead with 29 goals and 12 assists.
