Board of Education seeking name for new Westminster school

May 19, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

The Carroll County Board of Education is looking for a name for its new high school in Westminster.

The new 1,200-student school is expected to open in 2002 next to Cranberry Station Elementary School on Center Street.

County residents are invited to submit suggestions to the superintendent by 4 p.m. July 14. Student participation will be sought when schools reopen in August.

The superintendent will recommend a name to the school board at its regular meeting in October. School officials ask that name suggestions reflect the school and the community of which it will be a part.

Suggestions can be mailed to Superintendent William H. Hyde, 125 N. Court St., Westminster 21157.
