Middle River man charged in killing of a neighbor, 19

A 20-year-old Middle River man was charged yesterday in the killing of a 19-year-old neighbor last week, and Baltimore County police said they are seeking a second man.

Police charged Jerome Maurice Edmonds, 20, of the first block of Ebbtide Court in the fatal shooting of John J. Sullivan IV, who lived in the 1600 block of Riverwood Road. An 11-year-old boy found Sullivan's body May 4 on a Middle River playground. He had been shot once in the head.

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Ricco Rolls, 22, whose last known address was the 2400 block of E. Oliver St. in Baltimore.

Both men are charged with first-degree murder, police said. Edmonds was denied bail and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police said an informant identified two men who were carrying a gun the evening of the killing and looking to rob someone.

Sullivan was the county's ninth homicide victim this year.
