Mets: Optioned P Dennis Springer to Triple-A Norfolk.

Tigers: Promoted P Kevin Tolar from Double-A Jacksonville to Triple-A Toledo.

White Sox: Activated P Aaron Myette from the 15-day DL and optioned him to Double-A Birmingham.

NCAA: Declared Arkansas FB Eric Branch academically ineligible.

Ivy League: Named Penn's Chad Perman (Dulaney) to the all-league first-team. Perman placed second in the league championship tournament.

Navy: Eric Adams has been selected to the 1999 men's all-academic cross country team by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association.
