Mount de Sales freshman pitcher Jessica Taylor is peaking at just the right time.

Yesterday, she won her fifth straight game, throwing a one-hitter to beat No. 12 Catholic, 9-0, in an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference Tournament quarterfinal.

With a 1.20 ERA, Taylor (6-4) has helped the Sailors (9-10) recover after losing seven one-run games.

Errin Riggins was 2-for-4 yesterday with a triple and two RBIs while Kerri Poisal went 3-for-4.

The Cubs (11-6) struggled without starter Kelley Tiesi, who is suffering from a nagging injury in her pitching arm.

In tomorrow's semifinal, the Sailors play host to McDonogh.

McDonogh 2, No. 10 Institute of Notre Dame 1: Gabbi Dansicker scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning and Mia Zappacosta struck out the side in the seventh to lead the Eagles (10-9) to a quarterfinal upset of the host Indians (12-5).

Dansicker went 3-for-3 and completed a critical fifth-inning double play by blocking an IND player's attempt to score.

Seton Keough 5, John Carroll 2: Kristin Dulay, Danyale Goode, Tess Grubb, Shannon Smith and Lauren Riesner each drove in a run for the Gators (11-6). Dulay, a senior who has signed with UMBC, got the win, pitching a six-hitter with six strikeouts.

No. 1 Spalding 3, Bryn Mawr 0: Meghan Cowen pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead the unbeaten Cavaliers (21-0). Keri Lounge scored two runs and had a triple while Missy Gunther went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
