Stocking-masked armed man robs theater in Linthicum

May 09, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Employees were ordered to lie on the floor as a stocking-masked gunman robbed a Linthicum movie house late Sunday, county police reported.

The holdup occurred about 11:30 p.m. at Hoyt's West Nursery Cinema on West Nursery Road, when the gunman - who had been hiding behind a stairway door - approached the assistant manager and displayed a blue and white handgun.

The manager was forced into the cash office, where the gunman confronted four employees. Most were forced to lie on the floor while one employee was directed to remove money from the cash drawers and place it in a plastic bag, police said.

No one was injured. The amount of money taken was not disclosed.
