Flowery or fruity, spicy or sweet -- it doesn't matter what kind of mom you have. Chances are, someone will be buying her perfume for Mother's Day.

With thousands of perfumes out there, from Accenti to Yvresse, knowing which one to give Mom isn't easy. Here's our take on some of the new women's fragrances on the market:

Emporio Armani

By: Giorgio Armani, $38.50 for 1.7 ounces

The packaging: Tasteful, understated, expensive-looking

Described as: Flowery and refined

We say: Bellissima! Armani knows fragrance as well as clothes. This crisp scent is elegant and feminine.

Perfect for: A mom who loves beautiful things

Romance

By: Ralph Lauren, $45 for 1.7 ounces

The packaging: Tailored, elegant

Described as: Romantic scents of rose, ginger, marigold, violet and musk

We say: A lovely scent -- clean and feminine but not overpowering

Perfect for: A mom who likes Audrey Hepburn movies and white tulips

Honeysuckle Splash

By: Estee Lauder, $25 for 1.7 ounces

The packaging: Sweet, springy and fun

Described as: Fresh, delicate honeysuckle scent that "envelops you in a sheer veil of happiness"

We say: Fresh, yes. Delicate, no. This sweet, flowery fragrance smells a bit strong at first, but then again, so does real honeysuckle.

Perfect for: A mom so sweet she'd put Betty Crocker to shame

Yin

By: Jacques Fath, $50 for 2.5 ounces (Available at Nordstrom only)

The packaging: Made to wear with the accompanying Yang for Men. Get it, Yin Yang?

Described as: "Created in the image of a flowing garment ... composed of many superimposed levels of transparency"

We say: Huh? Smells kind of like rubbing alcohol. Guess it needs the companion scent to really flower.

Perfect for: A mom who likes to do everything with dad, including spritz perfume

Allure

By: Chanel, $45 for 1.7 ounces

The packaging: Minimalist

Described as: Refreshing, Oriental, floral, both spicy and fruity

We say: Allure's allure lies in the fact that it's not overpowering. At first whiff, it really doesn't smell like much. Ten minutes later however, the demure scent is appealingly crisp.

Perfect for: A mom who says she doesn't want anything for Mother's Day (but secretly does)
