Tests offered this month for census takers, clerks

Employees set hours, work in their community

The Bureau of the Census is giving tests for potential census takers, crew leaders and office clerks for the 2000 Census weekdays and some Saturdays around the county.

The bureau needs people to help make sure everyone is counted in the 2000 Census in Carroll County.

Census workers work in their community, set their hours and can be reimbursed for authorized expenses. All positions are paid competitive wages.

Although it is suggested to make an appointment to take the test, walk-ins are welcome. Please bring two forms of identification.

Tests are given as follows:

At 2 p.m. Mondays this month at Maryland Job Service, 125 Airport Drive, Westminster.

At 6 p.m. tomorrow and May 15 and 22; at 10 a.m. Wednesdays this month; and at 2 p.m. May 20 in the community room at Carrolltown Center, Liberty Road, Eldersburg.

At 3 p.m. Thursday and May 18 and 25; and at 2 p.m. May 27 at Mount Airy branch library, 705 Ridge Ave.

At 9 a.m. May 16 and 30 at the Department of Social Services, 10 Distillery Drive, Westminster.

At 5 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. Thursdays this month at the Business and Employment Resource Center, 224 N. Center St., Westminster.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday and May 30 at Union Bridge Town Hall, 104 W. Locust St.

At 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hampstead Town Hall, 1034 S. Carroll St.

At 6 p.m. Wednesdays this month at South Carroll Senior Center, 5745 Bartholow Road, Eldersburg.

At 1 p.m. Fridays this month at Eldersburg branch library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive.

At 10 a.m. Fridays this month at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church, 2101 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg.

At 6 p.m. Thursdays this month at the North Carroll branch library, 2255 Hanover Pike.

At 3 p.m. Wednesdays this month and at 2 p.m. May 16, 23 and 30 at Taneytown branch library, 10 Grand Drive.
