Andrea Gardner

Towson, baseball

Gardner, a fifth-year senior, is making the most of his opportunity on the mound. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound right-hander threw his second straight no-hitter last week by 8-0 over Woodlawn. Gardner, who struck out 14 of 22 Warriors he faced (one reachedon a third-strike passed ball), posted a perfect game over six innings with 15 strikeouts, including nine in a row, in an 11-0 win over Pikesville 12 days before. On Monday, Gardner (4-1) set a Maryland public school record for consecutive no-hitters with his third by 6-1 over Catonsville, striking out 18.

Elise Ray

Wilde Lake, gymnastics

Ray, a senior, won the individual all-around representing the United States at the Senior Pacific Alliance Championship in Christchurch, New Zealand. She won a gold medal in the floor exercise and a silver on the uneven bars. Earlier in the year, Ray finished eight at the world championships -- the best finish for an American since 1995. In July, Ray will compete in the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in St. Louis, where the top 14 finishers willo qualify for the Olympic trials. She plans to attend Michigan.
