Angels update

Many publications picked the Angels to finish last under new manager Mike Scioscia, but Anaheim has gotten off to a better start than expected, entering the series at 13-13, 1 1/2 games behind AL West leader Seattle. Darin Erstad (AL-leading .449 batting average) and rookie Adam Kennedy (.318, 20 RBIs) have sparked the offense. Erstad's 48 hits in April are the most ever by a major-leaguer in the month. The Angels are batting .292 as a team, second in the AL to the Chicago White Sox. The rotation was considered a major weakness, but Schoeneweis has been a huge surprise. The Orioles won nine of 12 games against the Angels last season, and four of six at Camden Yards. Mussina is 11-3 with one shutout in 20 career games against Anaheim. Hill was a late addition to this series. He replaces Jason Dickson, who was put on the disabled list Sunday.
