Volunteers Needed

Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills. Among them:

Inverness Center, 8301 Lynch Road, Dundalk, a public alternative middle school program, needs volunteers to tutor pupils in grades six, seven and eight in reading, school days from 8 a.m. to noon. Information: Allison Traxler, reading specialist, 410-887-7575.

Carrolltowne Elementary, 6542 Ridge Road, Sykesville, seeking tutors to fill two half-hour slots each morning and three half-hour slots each afternoon for a kindergarten literacy program. Volunteers will work with small groups of children, and training will be provided. Volunteers are needed through the end of May. Information: 410-751-3530.
