Today's games

April 29, 2000|By Gary Lambrecht

Towson (3-8) at No. 6 Hopkins (6-3)

Site: Homewood Field

Time: 3 p.m.

TV: Ch. 2

Radio: WJFK (1300 AM), WMTD (89.7 FM)

Skinny: It will be interesting to see how good a performance and how much emotion Towson, which has 11 suspended players, can muster against an opponent that should overwhelm the Tigers. Hopkins is riding a five-game winning streak and a 23-game winning streak in April.

No. 11 Navy (8-4) at Army (6-6)

Site: Michie Stadium

Time: 1: 30 p.m.

Radio: WNAV (1430 AM)

Skinny: One-goal losses to North Carolina, Maryland and Johns Hopkins most likely have killed the Midshipmen's NCAA tournament berth hopes, but Navy can make some of the pain disappear with a victory today. Look for goalie Mickey Jarboe to go out on a strong note.

Stony Brook (5-9) at UMBC (6-6)

Site: UMBC Stadium

Time: 7: 30 p.m.

Skinny: After playing nine of their last 11 games on the road, the Retrievers start a two-game homestand to conclude their season. UMBC should have little problem getting above the .500 mark for the first time in 2000.

No. 15 Hobart (7-4)

cp10 at No. 3 Loyola (10-1)

Site: Curley Field

Time: noon

Radio: WKDB (1570 AM)

Skinny: Hobart has won five of its past six, , losing only a one-goal decision to Georgetown along the way. The Statesmen have clinched an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament. Loyola is trying to remain in position to receive a first-round bye.
