Howard Crime Report

The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

Phelps Luck Drive: 5400 block, Long Reach. Three men approached a man walking along Jackson's Pond about 11 p.m. Saturday; one showed a knife and demanded money. The victim turned over cash.

West Columbia

Trumpeter Road: 5400 block, Wilde Lake. Four or five people approached a 12-year-old boy riding his bicycle and took it from him about 5 p.m. Saturday.

Ellicott City

Coachlight Lane: 7600 block. Burglars stole paintball equipment from a home Sunday.

Bonnie Acres: 5100 block. Several juveniles and adults used a key to enter a home while its owners were out of town Saturday. A house sitter noticed a woman inside the house in a hot tub. The woman fled from the tub and the house through the back door.

Brightlight Place: 7900 block. Burglars kicked in a rear door to a home Thursday and stole a videocassette recorder, small television, two jars of coins, a pillowcase, trash can and personal checks.

Ashbrook Drive: 2500 block. Burglars forced open a rear door to a home, ransacked the place, and stole cash and jewelry between Thursday and Saturday.

North Laurel

Cissel Avenue: 9500 block. Burglars pried open a cellar door and stole guns and ammunition worth $3,100 from a cabinet between Thursday and Saturday.

All Saints Road: 9100 block. A burglar was seen trying to break into a Sun newspaper box early Sunday. Police arrested a man at the scene and found in his backpack a hacksaw, chisel, hammer and screwdriver. The padlock on the box had saw marks on it. Arrested and charged with burglary was Brad Ferguson, 42, of Laurel, police said.
