Land-use plan drafts available for review

Reference copies of draft land-use plans for South County and Deale/Shady Side have been placed in the South County library by the Department of Planning and Code Enforcement, in advance of public forums scheduled for next month.

The draft Small Area Plans contain recommendations to guide lawmakers when developing land-use rules and when planning for construction of schools, roads, parks and other amenities. The plans are also meant to help property owners make decisions about the use of their land, a department spokesman said.

The forums will be held at South County High School -- May 2 for Deale-Shady Side and May 9 for South County. They will feature discussion of key recommendations for each draft plan, with the public invited to arrive between 4: 30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
