Two men indicted in sexual assault case

April 23, 2000|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Two Anne Arundel County brothers were indicted last week by a Howard County grand jury on charges they were involved in the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

The girl told Howard County police she was hanging out with several friends during a February weekend at a motel.

The girl asked the men to "act like her pimp," according to charging documents.

The group drove to a truck stop, where they arranged for the girl to perform sexual acts on several truckers, documents say.

The girl and men returned to the motel, where one man sexually assaulted her, documents say.

Afterward, another man sexually assaulted her, documents say.

One of those men then took the girl to a house on Guilford Road in Howard County, where she was forced to perform a sexual act on another man, documents say.

Indicted Thursday on charges of fourth-degree sex offense and contributing to the delinquency of a minor was Jerris R. Smith, 19, of Laurel.

Indicted on charges of third-degree sex offense and contributing to the delinquency of a minor was Jason L. Smith, 22, also of Laurel.

It was unclear whether others were being sought or have been charged in the case.
