1982

Hit dates

July 25, 1982: Gets 100th major-league hit, single off Athletics' Dave Beard.

1986

June 6: Gets 800th major-league hit, single off Yankees' Bob Shirley.

Sept. 7: Gets 900th major-league hit, single off Mariners' Mark Huismann.

1987

June 16: Gets 1,000th major-league hit, single off Yankees' Rich Bordi.

July 11: Bill Ripken is promoted from Triple-A, making Cal Sr. first father to manage two sons simultaneously during regular season.

Sept. 14: Innings streak, believed to be a record, is ended at 8,243.
