Red Sox: Pedro Martinez allowed his first homer of the season. In 1999 he allowed nine homers, all of them bases-empty shots. Trot Nixon was held hitless for the first time this season. Brian Daubach, who went 2-for-5, is 6-for-15 with seven RBIs in the first five games of the homestand.

Royals: Chuck Knoblauch's home run was his first RBI of the season. It came in his 44th at-bat.

White Sox: Frank Thomas had his 11-game hitting streak stopped, going 0-for-4. He reached on an error in the fourth. The announced crowd was 14,135, nearly 25,000 fewer than Friday night's home opener.
