Glenelg was running on fumes.

Less than an hour after running with No. 2 Bryn Mawr, the No. 13 Gladiators needed two overtime periods to edge Towson, 12-11, in the consolation final of the four-team Liberty Lacrosse Invitational in Eldersburg yesterday.

Bryn Mawr won the tourney by defeating 11th-ranked Liberty, 13-7, in the championship final.

Junior midfielder Kelly O'Connor scored five goals -- including the game-winner -- for Glenelg, which lost to the Mawrtians, 17-3, in a semifinal matchup.

"There wasn't much rest between the two games," said Gladiators coach Ginger Kincaid, whose squad improved to 7-1 with the win over Towson. "I think they pushed themselves in the first game to play respectably."

Said Towson coach Jill Altshuler: "I think we played sloppy. We didn't catch and throw very well."
