Albert Turner Sr., 64, a civil rights activist who led the mule wagon that carried the body of Martin Luther King Jr. at his funeral, died in Selma, Ala., on Thursday while awaiting surgery.

Andre Deutsch, 82, the British publisher who brought out Norman Mailer's "The Naked and the Dead," died Monday in London.

Arnold H. Johnson, 78, an actor who starred in the 1969 film "Putney Swope" and was a regular on the television series "Sanford and Son," died Monday in Los Angeles.

James Charles "Bud" Wingard, 67, a longtime head writer for the television country variety show "Hee Haw," died Wednesday in Santa Fe, N.M.
