Main Street Maryland plans real estate development forum

April 14, 2000

Main Street Maryland will hold a real estate development workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Human Services Programs on Distillery Drive in Westminster.

A program of the Department of Housing and Community Development, Main Street Maryland designated Westminster a Main Street community last year.

The downtown revitalization program provides a framework for the comprehensive upgrade of downtowns and traditional commercial districts.

Topics to be covered are: learning the real estate development process, focusing on the development of existing commercial buildings; understanding market analysis, including what additional businesses may be supportable in downtown.

Other topics include understanding pro forma analysis, determining if a building's rehabilitation is economically feasible (participants should bring a calculator); and closing the gap, a discussion of 20 percent ITC and other means to make a project obtain a positive cash flow.

Participants will be given a one-hour lunch break.

Reservations are required by calling 410-848-2261.
