Correction

April 14, 2000

An article in yesterday's Anne Arundel edition incorrectly stated that homeowners wishing to pay their property taxes once a year instead of twice yearly should contact the state by May 1.

Rather, homeowners who have a mortgage and wish to pay the tax semiannually must notify their mortgage company by May 1. Homeowners who do not have a mortgage can choose to pay annually or in two installments when they get their annual statement in July.

The Sun regrets the error.
