April 12, 2000

What's for dinner?

Leopards catch their prey -- small mammals, antelope and birds -- by hunting alone and often after dark.

"On a hot afternoon...

...look high in the trees. You may see a leopard catching some zzzz's."

Great climbers, leopards can also leap very far.

The African leopard can adapt to almost any habitat that provides it with food and cover. Usually nocturnal (active at night)it lives in forests, mountains, grasslands and deserts.
