Cape May Jazz Festival

Enjoy three days of jazz when the Cape May Jazz Festival celebrates Louis Armstrong's 100th birthday tomorrow through Sunday in Cape May, N.J. Among the more than 80 musicians and bands honoring the legendary trumpeter "Satchmo" are Roy Hargrove, Jimmy McGriff with Hank Crawford, Joe Chambers, David "Fathead" Newman and the Eddie Morgan Jazz Ensemble. Jam sessions and a gospel concert also are scheduled.

Sweet Adelines competition

More than 1,200 women singing barbershop harmony will compete tomorrow and Saturday in Sweet Adelines regional competitions at the Roland Powell Convention Center in Ocean City. Performers from 21 quartets and 21 choruses from Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware will vie for top awards. The competition concludes with a Show of Champions.

The competition starts at 5:45 p.m. tomorrow and 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The Show of Champions, featuring winning quartets and guest stars, begins at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The convention center is at 4001 Coastal Highway. Tickets for competitions are $15; the final concert, $16. Call 410-723-6168.
