North Carolina (22-13) vs. Florida (28-7)

Final 4 Factors

NCAA Men's Tournament

April 01, 2000

North Carolina

1. Ed Cota, who has sat for one minute in the tournament, must control the tempo. He was fatigued against Tulsa, but he's working with five days' rest.

2. Defend the perimeter. Florida has three players who have made better than 41 percent of their three-pointers for the season.

3. Rebound. With Haywood in the middle, North Carolina was one of the ACC's best boards teams. Pushed by Donnell Harvey, Florida is even better.

4. Get another magical perormance from Joe Forte. Is the highest-scoring freshman in Tar Hell history ready to head into Michael Jordan territory?

Florida

1. North Carolina players bent over, hands on thighs, was a familiar site in the South. Florida wants to turn off the shot clock and force a full-court game.

2. Limit Brendan Haywood's touches. That worked for Tulsa for a half, but when he asserted himself, the Tar Heels took their game to another level.

3. Swing the ball to the hot shooter. The Gators have 10 players who average more than 14 minutes, and nearly all capable of getting on a roll.

4. Continue to show the resourcefulness that got it through the East. For all of the talk about their hyperactivity, the Gators ousted Duke with a zone.
