Today's games

April 01, 2000|By Gary Lambrecht

No. 3 Loyola (6-0) at Towson (1-3)

Site: Minnegan Stadium

Time: 1 p.m.

Radio/TV: WTMD (89.7 FM)/WMAR, Ch. 2

Skinny: Loyola has the edge in talent and experience, but history between these neighborhood rivals suggests another scrappy contest. The Greyhounds appear to have too much depth.

No. 7 Navy (6-1) at No. 5 Georgetown (6-1)

Site: Kehoe Field, Washington

Time: 1 p.m.

Radio: WNAV (1430 AM)

Skinny: A victory by the Midshipmen would clinch the ECAC title and an NCAA tournament berth. All-America goalie Mickey Jarboe could be the difference for Navy.

Mount St. Mary's (4-5) at Providence (5-2)

Site: Glay Field, Providence, R.I.

Time: 1 p.m.

Skinny: The Mountaineers have won all four of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games by a combined score of 60-16.

No. 9 North Carolina (6-2) at No. 10 Johns Hopkins (1-3)

Site: Homewood Field

Time: 3 p.m.

Radio/TV: WJFK (1300 AM), HTS

Skinny: The Blue Jays are thrilled that a disastrous March is behind them. They have won 18 consecutive games in April dating to 1997, and have won 36 of their past 41 games in this month.

Rutgers (1-4) at No. 15 UMBC (2-4)

Site: UMBC Stadium

Time: 7: 30 p.m.

Skinny: Containing Keith Cromwell will be a high priority for the Retrievers, who have nearly beaten Georgetown and Duke.
