Car strikes woman at shopping center

April 01, 2000

A 73-year-old woman was struck by a car and seriously injured yesterday afternoon on the parking lot of an Annapolis shopping center by a driver who police say might have had a seizure before the accident.

"He didn't remember anything. He didn't know he had hit her," Anne Arundel County Officer Fred Paesch said of the driver, George Pritcher, 69, of Annapolis, who was not injured. "We're pretty sure he had a seizure."

Police said Pritcher's car hit another vehicle head-on in the parking lot of Festival at Riva after striking the woman about 1: 30 p.m.

The woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was flown by helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
