Box treat for winner

Freeze frame -- your face and favorite family recipe, that is. Stouffer's is looking for everyday cooks to enter its Real Home Cooking Contest by July 19. The winner will be featured on boxes of the company's Family Style Favorites meals, such as Jenny Kwitowski of Erie, Pa., who won last year with Grandma's Chicken and Vegetable Rice Bake. For contest rules, visit www. or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope by July 1 to Stouffer's Real Home Cooking Contest, P.O. Box 9427-R, Seattle, Wash. 98109.

Oscar-night feast

The glitz and glamour of the Academy Awards doesn't end with the ceremony. After Sunday's extravaganza, winners and losers, attending the Governors Ball in Shrine Auditorium, feasted on such fancy food as pizza with smoked salmon and dill cream, and roasted potatoes with caviar, before settling into a three-course, sit-down dinner orchestrated by chef Wolfgang Puck. At the table, guests savored roasted free-range chicken breast with wild mushroom risotto and black truffles, and somehow managed to finish up with golden chocolate Oscars.

New show to the rescue

Help is on the way. The Food Network introduces "Food 911" at 9 p.m. on April 13. The weekly Thursday program will help home cooks tackle crisis cooking, such as what to do when the in-laws drop by for dinner and how to remedy salty soup.
