Baltimore Playwrights Festival. Male and female actors of varying ages and ethnic backgrounds are needed for the 19th annual summer season. Bring resume and photo, and prepare a three-minute monologue or scene. You may also be asked to read from the script. Six theaters plan to produce eight to 12 new scripts at four venues. Auditions are held at 7 p.m. April 9, Audrey Herman Spotlighters Theatre, 817 St. Paul St.; 7 p.m. April 10, Vagabond Players, 806 S. Broadway; and 7 p.m. April 11, Fell's Point Corner Theatre, 251 S. Ann St. Call 410-276-2153.

Pumpkin Theatre. Performance groups in opera, dance, theater and puppetry are needed for the 2000/2001 MainStage season and Kinder Series programs. MainStage shows take place at St. Timothy's School for Girls in Stevenson, and the Kinder Series is a school outreach program presented at the Baltimore Museum of Art. The Rude Mechanicals. "Much Ado About Nothing." 7: 30 p.m. April 10 and 12 at Laurel High School, Cherry Lane, west of U.S. 1 in Laurel. Men and women actors of all ages are needed, especially those in their 20s and 30s. Also needed is an actor to play Othello in April. Call 301-317-9438.
