New positions

Giant Food names Currie operations executive VP

Giant Food Inc. named Daniel E. Currie executive vice president of operations. He is responsible for overall management of store, distribution and manufacturing operations for the Landover-based supermarket chain. Formerly a vice president with American Stores, the 32-year grocery industry veteran lives in Severna Park.

O'Neill is promoted at USinternetworking

USinternetworking Inc. promoted Sharon O'Neill to vice president and general manager of the Niku Business Unit. In this role, O'Neill will continue to lead the Niku Business Unit for the Annapolis company, which offers business software over the Internet. Before joining USi, O'Neill was a senior manager at Manugistics Inc. of Rockville. She previously worked at Calidus Systems Inc. in Waltham, Mass., at Iron Mountain Records Storage, Foxboro/DSA and the Procter and Gamble Distributing Co. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia.

Zoo names Hilferty director of marketing

The Baltimore Zoo named Christine Hilferty as director of marketing. Among her responsibilities are strategic marketing plan development, advertising, publications, group sales and events. The Johns Hopkins University graduate previously was a senior vice president with the American Advertising Federation.

Campbell takes post at Anne-Tisdale

Anne-Tisdale & Associates Inc., a Towson-based mail shop service and list broker, named Anne Campbell assistant director of new business. She is responsible for new business acquisition, marketing and customer service. Formerly on the staff of St. Dominic School, the Parkville resident is a graduate of Neumann College.

Advertising

Etzine is executive VP at Eisner Communications

Eisner Communications promoted Stephen Etzine to executive vice president/creative director for the Baltimore regional ad agency. He had been head of the firm's creative group and formerly was with Ambrose Carr Linton Kelly of Toronto.

Banking and finance

Grossman, Felser, Levy advance at Provident

Provident Bank of Maryland named Ellen S. Grossman senior vice president; Susan King Felser, vice president; and Melaine A. Levy, vice president, business banking.

Grossman, a master's degree candidate at Johns Hopkins University, manages the investor relations unit. She lives in Baltimore. Felser, an Ohio University graduate, manages the bank's advertising and promotional activity. Formerly with the Maryland Lottery, the Sparks resident is a member of several professional and charitable organizations.

Levy, formerly a senior loan executive with Key Bank & Trust, oversees commercial lending for small business. A Pikesville resident, she is a graduate of Towson University and is active in the Maryland Bankers Community Reinvestment Group.

Commercial real estate

Bozzuto names D'Avanzo portfolio manager

Bozzuto Management Co., based in Greenbelt, named Holly D'Avanzo a portfolio manager. She is responsible for five company-managed properties in the Washington area. A graduate degree candidate at Johns Hopkins University, the Fairfax, Va., resident is active in several professional organizations, including the Property Management Association and the Institute of Real Estate Management.
