Christians, jews invited to attend Passover sermon

"Messiah in the Passover," a sermon detailing how Jesus fulfilled the feast of Passover, will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 14135 Burntwoods Road, Glenwood.

"Messiah in the Passover" will help Jewish and Christian groups to understand their common heritage.

The meeting is open to the public and Pastor Terry Stockman invites both the Christian and Jewish communities to attend.

`Digital divide' discussion at interfaith center

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia will sponsor a free discussion about the "digital divide" -- the line between those who have Internet access and those who do not -- at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia.

The congregation will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1 at the interfaith center.

Slavic chorus to perform at St. Mark's Episcopal

The Slavic Male Chorus and St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Highland, 12700 Hall Shop Road, will present music and prayer for Lent at 7: 30 p.m. Sunday .

Z'mirot workshop offered at Beth Shalom in Columbia

Beth Shalom Congregation of Columbia, 8070 Harriet Tubman Lane, Columbia, will hold a Z'mirot workshop from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Those who attend will learn songs to celebrate Shabbat, holidays and special times. The cost is $3.

The congregation will hold an adult education program to explore the Book of Ruth from 7: 45 p.m. to 9: 30 p.m. Tuesdays, next week through April 25. The cost is $22; $20 for members.

St. John Baptist to hold deaconate ordination

St. John Baptist Church, 8910 Old Annapolis Road, Columbia, will hold a deaconate ordination for Sister Alfreda McCoy-Gwynn, Brother Clarence Hall, Brother James Fitzpatrick and Brother Clint Sellers at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The LOGOS Youth Program at Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church, 6410 Amherst Ave., Columbia, will present a free musical, "Father Knows Best," at 6: 30 p.m. Sunday.

Wilde Lake center site of Catholic conference

The North American Alpha Conference for Catholics will be April 3 and 4 at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia.

The conference will relate the principles of Alpha, an evangelical program that attempts to lead people to a personal relationship with Jesus.

The cost is $109; $99 a person for groups of three or more and alumni; $65 for students and spouses.
